Human Resources & Recruiting SkillBridge Intern

The Department of War (DoW) SkillBridge Program provides transitioning Service members the opportunity to gain valuable civilian work experience through industry-specific training, apprenticeships, and internships during their final 180 days of active duty. Eligible participants may be granted permissive duty to train full-time with approved SkillBridge partners while preparing for their transition into the civilian workforce.

TQI Solutions is proud to support the DoW SkillBridge Program and is seeking a motivated Human Resources & Recruiting SkillBridge Intern to join our team at our headquarters in Chesapeake, VA.

This is an unpaid SkillBridge training opportunity. TQI Solutions does not provide wages or compensation for participation in this program. Eligible Service members continue to receive their military pay and benefits from their respective military service in accordance with applicable SkillBridge requirements.

This dual-focused opportunity provides hands-on experience in both Human Resources and Talent Acquisition within a government contracting environment. The selected participant will work closely with TQI’s HR and Recruiting teams to support recruiting, onboarding, employee documentation, HR processes, and workforce needs across the organization.

Responsibilities

• Support the full recruitment lifecycle, including sourcing, resume review, candidate screening, interviewing, and candidate communication
• Assist with recruiting for technical, professional, and mission-support positions supporting TQI’s Department of War customers and contract opportunities
• Create, manage, and update job postings and candidate information within the Applicant Tracking System (ATS)
• Conduct initial candidate screenings and preliminary phone interviews
• Coordinate interviews and provide timely updates to candidates and hiring teams
• Assist with evaluating candidate qualifications, certifications, security clearances, and position requirements
• Source candidates through job boards, professional networking platforms, referrals, and other recruiting resources
• Support new-hire onboarding, employment documentation, and employee records
• Assist with HR administrative functions, employee communications, personnel changes, and offboarding processes
• Gain exposure to HR policies, procedures, compliance, and employee lifecycle processes
• Assist with recruiting and workforce needs for current contracts, new opportunities, and proposal efforts
• Maintain accurate and confidential candidate and employee information
• Support HR and Recruiting projects based on organizational needs

Qualifications

• Transitioning Service member who meets SkillBridge eligibility requirements and receives appropriate command approval
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Communications, Information Technology, or a related field preferred
• Interest in pursuing a civilian career in Human Resources, Recruiting, Talent Acquisition, or government contracting
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and time-management skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
• Professionalism and discretion when handling confidential candidate and employee information
• Willingness to learn HR and recruiting systems, processes, and terminology
